Searching by using the Exact Search Tool

Searching for Constituents > A Quick Summary

Rule of Thumb:

  • A phone number or email search is faster because it holds a unique form.
  • A search by Name and Address is longer because it scans the entirety of the database, so the less information you input, the broader the search will be.

To start searching for a constituent, select the Constituent Management tab from the Dashboard, look for Search for a Constituent. Ideally you can also just click the Constituents icon (little orange icon) that rests on top.

The Constituent Search window will open up;

Exact Search

This is the fastest method to access a constituent's profile, provided you have the required details. Type or scan the associated bar code number into the Exact Search box at the top of the Constituent Search window and hit Search.

Each barcode number can vary;

  • A Constituent ID number must have a 'c' in front. Ex: c1234567
  • The Mail ID number is unique to the mail piece sent to a constituent and must have a 'm' in front. Ex: m1234567
  • The Membership ID number to identify members, must have a 'z' in front. Ex: z1234567
  • There must be no space between the 'c' and the number; otherwise the search tool will not carry out the specific search function
  • Things to note:
    • If you press the space bar after inputting the numbers, the search tool may not work
    • When searching Mail ID's, the search may not work if the Mail ID number is assigned by our tele-fundraisers. However, you can still find the Constituent ID on that mail piece
